Instructions to authors

 

Scope and policy

 

Revista Argentina de Reumatología is a peer review journal that it covers all areas of rheumatology and is directed to the health professionals who are interested in deepen in this scientific field.
Reviewers are part of the staff of the journal or they are external evaluators selected by editors. The editors of each section send the work to two reviewers, the return of the revised working will be within a period of 30 days approximately.
The Editorial Committee reserves the right to reject those items which it deems inappropriate, as well as propose or make modifications when necessary.

 

 

Form and preparation of manuscripts

 

The first page of the different collaborations must include: title in spanish and english, surname and full names of the authors, center where was work, center address and e-mail contact for correspondence or request reprints.

Sections of the journal:

Editorial: contribution requested by the Committee to an expert, who will write on topics of current interest from your personal point of view. Its maximum length will be 5 pages.
Original articles:
presentation of an original, personal or group, scientific expertise that contributes to the advancement of the specialty. The text will have a maximum length of 20 pages. The different items will appear in the following order: abstract in spanish and english of up to 200 words, key words (3-10), introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, conclusions and bibliography. Up to 6 figures and 6 tables will be accepted.
Updates: updating on certain topics of interest, presented in a synthetic way. It should not exceed 10 pages, can include 2 tables and 2 figures. It must add recommended readings with no more than 10 citations.
Case reports: description of a case of rare observation that it represents an important contribution to the knowledge of the subject. Its maximum length is 10 pages. It will consist of abstract in spanish and english, description, discussion of the case and bibliography (no more than 15 citations). Up to 4 figures and 4 tables will be accepted.
Diagnostic imaging: presentation of a case problem based on imaging, with essential clinical data and sequence of studies to reach the definitive diagnosis. Up to 6 figures will be accepted.
Letters to the editor: comments on previously published articles. They should not exceed 4 pages, can include only one table or figure and up to 6 citations.

Illustrative material:

Tables: a single table must be submitted per page. It will be sent in electronic format in table inserted in Word in file apart from text or Excel file. Each table should be numbered with roman numerals, and headed by the text or title. Tables must be cited in consecutive order in the text. All acronyms and abbreviations shall always be accompanied by an explanatory note at the foot of the table. In addition, the statistical measures used will be identified accurately. When a statistical study has been performed, the level of significance should be indicated in a footnote to the table, if it had not included in the text of the table. The order of call signs shall be as follows: * If there is a single call; lowercase letters in alphabetical order (a, b, c...) if there are two or more calls. For shipping it must be made in Microsoft Word or Excel, not accepting scanned tables.
• Graphics (figures): they can be made with computer only in vector program (Adobe Illustrator) or spreadsheet program (Excel). The size is 9 x 12 cm or 12 x 18 cm. They will be sent as external to the main file of text files; they must be named with the number of figure, sending a file for graph. Sending scanned files is disadvantage but in this case, it should follow the guidelines for photographs. Special designs include hand-drawn on paper, must be drawn in black ink on white paper which guarantees a good contrast.
• Photographs: they will be selected providing they are of good quality. They will have the same numbering system is used as in the graphics. It is very important that the photographs on paper are of excellent quality to be able to get good reproductions; they will be presented so that the opaque bodies (bones, contrast substances) appear in white. Photographs shall be numbered on the back, with arabic numerals, following the sequence in the text, using a sticker, indicating also the name of the first author, with an arrow to the top. It should not write on the back, since grooves occur on the picture. If the photos are sent in digital format, these should be at least at 300 dpi to size requested previously and stored in the formats tiff, eps or Adobe Photoshop. Do not use formats bmp, pict, jpeg, pdf or swf, not photos or graphics from web or interactive cds. It will not be accepted photos or graphics included in Power Point or Word and must be sent as external files. The file must be named with the photo number (in arabic numerals) followed by the name of the first author, sending a file for photo.
• Figure footnotes: they must be in the separate file, numbered according to their corresponding sequence and double spaced. They will explain the content of the figure, table or graph, as well as the meaning of the signs, arrows, numbers and abbreviations that may be. Histological reproductions will be specified with the increase and the method of staining.
• Bibliographic citations: they will be drafted according to rules of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editor. They can be found at:

Preparation checklist for the shipments:

The authors should follow these items and the shipments that do not comply with these indications may be returned to the author.

  • The request has not been previously published or submitted to another journal (or has been provided an explanation in comments to the editor).
  • The submitted file is in Open Office, Microsoft Word, RTF, or Word Perfect format.
  • It has been added web addresses for references where it is possible.
  • The text has single spacing, the font size is 12 points, using italics instead of underlining (except the URLs), and all illustrations, figures and tables are within the text on the site that corresponds to them and not to the end at all.
  • The text complies with bibliographic requirements and style shown in the instructions for authors.


 

 

Sending of manuscripts

 

Articles must be loaded into the online journal, accessed through the website of the Sociedad Argentina de Reumatología, for this it is necessary to register at: http://www.revistasar.org.ar/ in the Articles submission section.
