Instructions to authors

 

Scope and policy

 

La Zaranda is part of the Argentinean Scientific Journals Basic Core (“Núcleo Básico de Revistas Científicas Argentinas” Resolución 952/10 CONICET). La Zaranda de Ideas is an annual referred publication whose aim is the diffusion of scientific research from undergraduates and recent graduates in archaeology and related disciplines.  La Zaranda de Ideas accepts contributions related to archaeology, anthropology, bioanthropology, history, cultural heritage and relevant issues linked to cultural diversity in time and space.
The call for papers is permanent; articles can be submitted throughout the year.
Authors are responsible for the content of their contributions, its correct editorial format and the accuracy of the published data. They are also responsible for the properquotations of the bibliographic references, the legal rights regarding the publication of the submitted material and for the appropriate management of the related issues regarding the authorship of the piece. It is not allowed to submit manuscripts that are considered for others publications.

 

 

Form and preparation of manuscripts

 

The Editorial Board reserves the right to accept the contributions to publishing. The selection of articles, essays and investigations reports will be done taking into account the evaluation of the anonymous reviewers conformed by at least two professionals specialized in the subject. The Editorial Committee reserves the right to reject or return for correction those works that do not respond to the changes suggested by the reviewers and/or the editors.
Language: contributions in Spanish and Portuguese are accepted
Page size: A4, one side numbered pages
Margins: superior, inferior and right 2 cm, left 3 cm
Font: Title: Arial 12/Text: Arial 12/ References, notes and acknowledgements: Arial 9
Paragraph: no indentation, justified without syllabification, single-spaced, with a space between paragraphs.
Maximal extension: For articles and reports: 20 pages, including notes, acknowledgements, figures, tables and references cited. For short notes, interviews, book reviews: 5 pages. The contributions to the “Misceláneas” section should not exceed 3 pages.

    • Title: centered and in bold (Arial 12)
    • Author/s: two spaces below the title and left aligned. Must include: name and surname of the author/s, institutional affiliations, postal address and e mail.
    • Abstracts and keywords: the articles and investigation reports must contain an abstract in Spanish and in English up to 150 words each. Five keywords in both languages must be included, separated by semicolon (;)
    • Headlines: the main ones must be in capital letters, secondary ones in bold, tertiary ones in italic and the following ones in regular font. Always aligned to the left, two spaces from text above, and one from below.
    • Numbers: all numbers above 9 (nine) must be expressed in Arabic numbers. The ones from zero to nine can be expressed in words. Decimal numbers must be expressed with point.
    • Measurement units: measurements of distance, area, volume and weight must be expressed in decimal  metric system. Examples: 18 cm, 3000 m, 12 km, 28 ha, 2 l.

Sending of manuscripts

 

The papers must be submitted in digital format to: la_zaranda@yahoo.com.ar. The manuscript should be sent as a Word file (.doc), with tables and figures placed in the main text.  Figures should be also sent in separately files named as “Figure 1”, “Table 1”, etc. Tables should be submitted as Excel files (.xls).
