Abstract

AUGE, Melisa Ayelén  and  DAY PILARIA, Fernanda Anabella. FROM ANIMALS AND PLANTS TO FOOD PRODUCTION AT LAS MARÍAS SITE (MAGDALENA, BUENOS AIRES). Folia [online]. 2023, n.47, pp.193-210. ISSN 0325-8238.  http://dx.doi.org/10.30972/fhn.0476787.

The purpose of this contribution is to investigate the food production activities of the Las Marías site (Magdalena, Buenos Aires). This task is carried out on the review and articulation of the results previously produced from the studies of plant microremains obtained from ceramic fragments and archaeofaunistic remains from said archaeological site. This made it possible to interpret various practices of obtaining, processing, cooking and conserving vegetables. This instance offers us evidence to understand the complex networks of knowledge, beliefs and practices involved in the kitchens and meals of the past.

Keywords : Fauna Remains; Plant Microremains; Food Practices; Late Holocene.
