Abstract
URIBE MARTINEZ, Ignacio Fernando. La especulación como principio estético en Antonino Pierozzi (1389-1459). Temas mediev. [online]. 2009, vol.17, pp.229-243. ISSN 0327-5094.
This article tries to establish the aesthetic criteria that governed Antonio Pierozzi's considerations regarding painting and the points of view sustained by the Summa moralis. If he sustained the idea that painting is a path that can lead the contemplator to devotion, and from there to divine realities, thus effecting the passage from the bodily vision to the spiritual one, it permits us to understand the aesthetic value attributed to art by the Dominican theologian. That passage is determined by the concept of speculation. Thus, as creation is a mirror of knowledge, artistic creation has a moral value and the capacity to transform the act of contemplation.
