Abstract

ROJAS DONAT, Luis. El cristianismo en una obra reciente. Temas mediev. [online]. 2010, vol.18, pp.169-194. ISSN 0327-5094.

The purpose of the author of this article is to attempt an in depth analysis of Paul Veyne's recently published book. The subject of the book is not only the period of Constantine and his open support of the Church, but also the often heatedly disputed question of the consequences of the conversion for the history of the western world. Veyne also undertakes the analysis of the historical problem of conversion, not solely of personal conversion, but the collective one as well, and in doing this he does it not exclusively from an historical point of view but also from a dogmatic position with great philosophical and theological insight. The book, which has merited prizes and praise in Europe, is the expression of its author's maturity in dealing with the great historical problem of religion in history.

Keywords : Veyne; Conversion; Constantine; Christianity.
