Abstract
GIL MONTERO, Raquel. Guerras, hombres y ganado en la Puna de Jujuy: Comienzos del Siglo XIX. Bol. Inst. Hist. Argent. Am. Dr. Emilio Ravignani [online]. 2002, n.25, pp.9-36. ISSN 0524-9767.
The main objective of this article is to study the strategies of war, and their economical and social consequences for the population living in the territory in which the battles were fought, and where the army established its encampments. We analyze the independence struggles (1810-1825) and the war against the Peruvian and Bolivian Confederation (1836-1839). In earlier investigations, we have noted that the begining of the nineteenth century ushered in a long period of crisis reflected in the composition of the population and in its rate of increase. The current work helps to explain these changes.
