Abstract

PIZARRO, María Marta Santillán  and  PEREYRA, Eduardo Javier. Factors associated with the ideation of suicide in adolescents. Some evidence in Argentina. Astrolabio [online]. 2021, n.26, pp.160-181.  Epub 01, 2021. ISSN 1668-7515.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.55441/1668.7515.n26.27659.

Suicide has become a pressing social and public health problem worldwide. Particularly in Argentina in the last 25 years, suicide mortality tripled in the young population and this type of death has become the second cause of death in the range of 10 to 19 years old. Based on the Global school-based student health survey (GSHS), a WHO project implemented in Argentina in 2012, this article analyzes the relationship between the suicide attempt and different factors in students between 13 and 15-year-old. It applies logistic regression models to show that some factors increase and others decrease the risk of suicide attempt. In addition, when the term of conditional relationship is analyzed, it is observed that the impact of each of them is different between gender, being girls, in general, the most vulnerable. Likewise, the combined effect of different factors may increase the risk of a suicide attempt.
