This article presents a critique of the key elements that distinguish the notions of science and ideology, and the mediating factors between the two. By questioning the underlying assumptions of academic disciplines about science, the paper discusses the criteria set forth to establish boundaries in scientific knowledge. From an epistemological perspective, these criteria underscore the complexity of objects, facts, and methods in the production of scientific knowledge and its constraints. Finally, from the perspective of a sociology of knowledge, the article analyzes the relationship between the production of knowledge and its social context, focusing particularly on power relations.
