Abstract

GRINBERG, Silvia M. Educación y gubernamentalidad en las sociedades de gerenciamiento. Rev. argent. sociol. [online]. 2006, vol.4, n.6, pp.67-87. ISSN 1669-3248.

The notions of crisis and change are frequently used to characterize social life since the late twentieth century. This article presents the results of a research project that seeks to characterize the processes of rupture and reconfiguration of the pedagogical devices applied in Argentina since the 1990s. The study was carried out assuming these changes take place in a flexible accumulation scenario, and that they symbolize a reform of the processes and institutional practices for the production of subjectivity. Foucault's concept of governmentality referred to the set of institutions, reflections, procedures, calculations, and tactics articulated in the exercise of power and behavior management since the nineteenth century. This paper argues that it is precisely those principles, typical of discipline societies, that are been questioned, giving rise to the creation of the socalled management societies. Within the framework of governmentality studies, this article describes some of the coordinates this research identified in the field of the educational discourses, and argues that they express a new logic in the government of population. This logic is embodied in a set of new principles of behavior regulation and management as set forth in the official proposals of school reform. Finally, there is a new episteme that involves and also transcends the pedagogical field.

Keywords : Governmentality; Pedagogical devices; Subjectivity; Management Societies; Episteme.
