Argentina's beef production has the challenge of intensify processes to respond to the world demand for animal protein. Animal welfare is becoming a significative aspect during farm stage. Welfare provision to animals is a human responsibility that must consider different aspects such as adequate housing, management, nutrition, prevention and treatment of diseases. The objective of this review was to gather information regarding the evolution of cattle fattening systems and the effects of intensification on animal welfare and meat production.
