Abstract

ARIAS BUCCIARELLI, Mario. The public school as a producer of identities: Contextualization and analysis of Sarmiento's plan on the bicentennial of his birth. Rev. Esc. Hist. [online]. 2011, vol.10, n.2. ISSN 1669-9041.

In the bicentennial year of the birth of Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, a key figure in implementing public school in Argentina, this article analyzes and puts under strain his interpretation of the national reality. From the dichotomy civilization / barbarism and its implications it reflects, in the long term, the conceptual basis of an identity in the transition of the millennium is being called into question.
