Abstract

ZABURLIN, María Amalia. History Of The Occupation Of The Pucará De Tilcara, Jujuy, Argentina. Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2009, vol.10, n.1, pp.89-103. ISSN 1850-373X.

The Pucará de Tilcara has been intensely researched since the early twentieth century. However, the distinct recording systems employed have been regarded as an obstacle to the integration of the different research carried out at the site. In this paper the results of an architectural surface analysis and the first complete mapping of the site are presented. The analysis and mapping have enabled data from the early twentieth century research to be reinterpreted and integrated into current studies. As a consequence, new data on the Inka and Hispano-Indigenous occupations have been generated.

Keywords : Pucará de Tilcara; Mapping; Inka occupation.
