Abstract

LLANCAQUEO HENRIQUEZ, Alfonso; JIMENEZ-GALLARDO, Carlos  and  LEBRECHT DIAZ-PINTO, Walter. Learning the concepts of force and energy engineering students: an exploratory study. Rev. electrón. investig. educ. cienc. [online]. 2013, vol.8, n.1, pp.14-23. ISSN 1850-6666.

This paper reports results of an exploratory study of learning the concepts of force and energy, students of engineering conducted with freshmen. Participated in this study 125 students in a general physics course at the University of La Frontera, Chile. The research is based on the theory of conceptual fields Vergnaud, adopted as a theoretical reference for the study of significant learning processes in physics. The results described features of the conceptualization and understanding of meanings of these concepts at two different times, at the beginning and end of the course. These results allow us to explore the progress of students in learning and mastering this conceptual field.

Keywords : Force and energy; Conceptual fields; Significant learning.
