Abstract
SONEGO TEMP, Daiana and BARTHOLOMEI-SANTOS, Marlise Ladvocat. Development and utilization of a teaching model to facilitate genotype-phenotype correlation. Rev. electrón. investig. educ. cienc. [online]. 2013, vol.8, n.2, pp.13-20. ISSN 1850-6666.
This article presents the results of a survey of second year students of high school in a public school located in Santa Maria, RS, Brazil. The main objective was to determine whether the use of a didactic model was a differential and effective way to assist in learning the content of genetics. The research used qualitative and quantitative approaches through the application of pre and post testing consisting of an open question and multiple choice questions. The tests were made with different issues that included content related to genetics. The didactic model was used between the application of the two tests. The analysis of the pre-test showed that the main student's difficulties were related to the identification of chromosome structure, genes and DNA; relationship between genotype and phenotype, identification of genealogy and calculations of probability concepts and karyotype. After using the didactic model, the post test showed that is was effective with respect to the issues related to chromosomal structures, genotype, phenotype and karyotype. The use of differential models and practices of teaching are important tools of consolidation of learning.
