Abstract

CARMINATTI, Nayra Luiza  and  CLEMENT, Luiz. Evidências de validade de uma escala para medir engajamento e interesse de estudantes em aulas de física. Rev. electrón. investig. educ. cienc. [online]. 2018, vol.13, n.1, pp.01-09. ISSN 1850-6666.

This paper presents the process of elaboration and look for evidence validity of an instrument in the form of a likert scale that evaluate the interest and engagement of High School students in Didactic Activities of Problem Solving in the discipline of Physics. The final version of the scale consists in a main affirmative, "I participated in exercise and problems solving activities because ...", followed by eighteen items that completed it. The scale was implemented to 377 high school students. The following statistical analyzes were performed: factorial analysis, extraction of the main components, analysis of internal consistency and Pearson correlation. There were four representative factors, thus characterized: Cognitive and Behavioral Engagement (α = 0.8), Individual Interest (α = 0.7), Situational Interest (α = 0.7) and Emotional Engagement (α = 0.9), that explain 50.3% of data variability. The results attribute trust and credibility to scale and make it suitable for use in research that focuses on the interest and engagement of students in physics classes.

Keywords : Likert scale; Interest; Engagement; Physics Teaching.
