Abstract

PAL, Nélida. Design and use of knapped lithic tools in the upper basin of the Tapalqué Stream (Buenos Aires Province). Comechingonia [online]. 2013, vol.17, n.1, pp.171-187. ISSN 1851-0027.

In this paper we present the results of techno-morphological and functional analyses of lithic tools recovered in the upper basin of Tapalqué Creek (Province of Buenos Aires). The general aim is to discuss how consumption practices are associated with the design of artifacts. The results show that there is not a direct and univocal relationship between the design and the function of the tools. However, it has been proven that the selection of some morphological (edge shape) and dimensional (length of the edge, and module L/W) attributes are related to the context of use of lithic tools.
