Abstract
MOLINARI MAROTTO, Carlos and BARREYRO, Juan Pablo. Memory of narratives and emotional in ferences. Anu. investig. [online]. 2007, vol.14, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-1686.
This research tested the hypothesis of an increase of the allocation of attentional resources during reading of narrative text segments which allow inferences of characters' basic emotions, with the subsequent effect on the mental representation of the situation that the text describes. Participants were asked to read and remember two folktales. A simulation using the Landscape model of reading comprehension led to determine the activation of textual propositions in each reading cycle. Two sets of propositions were compared: propositions activated in reading cycles previously determined as emotional cycles, and propositions not activated in emotional cycles. Results indicated a better recall of the first set of propositions, corresponding to the circumstances of the story which elicit characters' basic emotions.
