In this article, a review of the life of Lev Vygotsky and context of production, retrieval and dissemination of the legacy is presented. Marxist foundations on which are based the new psychology developed by this author are presented In the biographies of Vygotsky had often been found the description of the persecution and censorship, during the 30s and the post mortem ban of his legacy, which affected intramural and extramural receipt. Some arguments and evidences are presented in order to clarify and discuss some facts on which is built the traditional narrative refered to the prohibition during his life and the period 1936-1956 in the USSR. We discuss, too, about another censorship, silent and not well known, exerted from within Soviet academia, which delayed his diffusion in the period from the sixties to 1982-84 was even more dramatic than the earlier one during the Stalinist era. Finally some questions, about narratives connected with training and his tenure in the Psychology and the troika existence, are stated.
