The works promoted by the National Agency of Sanation from Brazil -DNOS- in Lagoa Feia, located in the Northern state of Rio de Janeiro, resulted in the loss of more than a half of the original lake area. The land fills made by the owners of border in glake lands, associated with the DNOS enterprises, led to an accelerated reduction of the water surface. In the 70's, the fishers of a small village called Ponta Grossa dos Fidalgos, located in Lagoa Feia, decided to stop DNOS works and paralyzed machines that were building a submerged channel in the lake on twice. This article approaches the articulation of social groups in the public arena, where the conflict made explicit the existence of different cosmologies.
