Abstract

BRANZ, Juan Bautista. Etnografiando hombres: sobre masculinidades, deporte y reflexividad. Avá [online]. 2015, n.27, pp.159-181. ISSN 1851-1694.

The intention of this paper is to explain how the so-called dominant masculinity among a group of men who practice rugby in the city of La Plata, articulates with the class position of its participants. A masculinity akin to an imaginary virtue of dominance and superiority over other groups of men and built, fundamentally, subordinating everything that is associated with the so-called features and meaning as feminine. The study is focused, mainly, on an ethnographic approach with a high degree of immersion in the studied field, reconstructing the meanings that the actors give to their own practices.

Keywords : Masculinity; Rugby; Ethnography; Reflexivity.
