Abstract

LEGARRETA, Patricia; LETONA, Alejandra  and  HERNANDEZ, Mario. Ética, política y trabajo en la antropología mexicana del siglo XXI. Avá [online]. 2016, n.28, pp.19-42. ISSN 1851-1694.

This article analyses the ethics guidelines published by the board of the Colegio de Etnólogos y Antropólogos Sociales (CEAS, Ethnologists and Social Anthropologists Association) in Mexico in 2014. It focuses on the difficulties in implementing the ethics guidelines given the realities of Mexico, the characteristics of anthropology’s professional practices in Mexico, the international division of labor in the 21st century, and Mexico’s increasing integration with the United States. It discusses the impossibilities of an ethics that prescribes ideal and normative behaviors at an individual level for anthropologists in Mexico in the face of their political, social and labor conditions.

Keywords : Mexican Anthropology; Ethics; Politics; Fieldwork.
