Abstract

A catalogue is presented of the type specimen material of Gymnospermae and Angiospermae (Monocotyledoneae and Dicotyledoneae) deposited in the Mendoza Ruiz Leal Herbarium (MERL), Argentina. The collection of these vascular plants includes 30 families, 68 genera and 143 species (116 specific and 27 infraspecific: = 1 subspecies, 24 varieties and 2 forms). The families Poaceae and Asteraceae account together for 26.5 % and 43.3 % of the total genera and species. The genera of Stipeae have the highest number of species (38). The analysis includes a list of the original names in alphabetical order, with updated author names, the original citation, type category and observations.
