Abstract

COSTILLA, Diego D. et al. Decription and registration of the new sugar cane variety, TUC 03-12, produced by the Estación Experimental Agroindustrial Obispo Colombres. Rev. ind. agric. Tucumán [online]. 2016, vol.93, n.2, pp.39-42. ISSN 1851-3018.

The Instituto Nacional de Semillas, Inase, incorporates new varieties in the Catálogo Nacional de Cultivares once your registration is done in the Registro Nacional de Cultivares (RNC) and/or the Registro Nacional de Propiedad de Cultivares (RNPC) of Argentina. Admission to both registry is met after the completion of the examination of distinctness, uniformity and stability of varieties (DHE) established by the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV). This DHE evaluation determines the distinctive characteristics of each variety, by assessing 54 qualitative and quantitative botanical characters in plants from 10 to 12 months of development in a first crop cycle ("plant cane"). Qualitative characteristics are observed in six samples, or parts of samples, and quantitative characters are analyzed in 24 samples, or parts of samples, all of which come from different stools. This work aims to evaluate DHE of TUC 03-12, variety produced by the Sugarcane Breeding Program of Estación Experimental Agroindustrial Obispo Colombres (EEAOC) for incorporation into the RNPC of Argentina that protects the right of ownership of their breeders and the RNC that enables marketing.
