Abstract

COZZI2, Eugenia. LOS TIRATIROS. USOS Y FORMAS DE LA VIOLENCIA ALTAMENTE LESIVA ENTRE JÓVENES EN LA CIUDAD DE SANTA FE1. Estud. - Cent. Estud. Av., Univ. Nac. Córdoba [online]. 2014, n.32, pp.265-284. ISSN 1852-1568.

This paper describes and analyses the different uses and forms of lethal violence between young people from popular sectors in two suburbs of Santa Fe city. In these suburbs there is a high rate of murders and most of the victims and murderers are young boys, all of them familiar to each other and residents in these suburbs. These uses are linked to some collective and attractive ways to build identity and have prestige, associated with showing off courage and masculinity. Such uses also reveal diverse ways to build bonds through signs of solidarity. Likewise, these uses represent different ways of entertainment and recreation and a search for emotions. However, sometimes saturation points emerge and the deployment of violence or its mere possibility becomes unbearable both for the young and for their closest environment. Finally, these uses of lethal violence are contrasted with another use, also present in the account of the young, related to the deployment of violence in theft situations. However, in this case, violence is not present among peers but in the interaction with the victims in the theft situations.

Keywords : Lethal violence; young people; popular sectors; identity.
