Abstract
MANRIQUEZ-CALDERON, Sarahi del Carmen; PADROS-BLAZQUEZ, Ferrán and VILLUENDAS-GONZALEZ, Erwin Rogelio. Efficiency of attentional networks in people with type 1 diabetes mellitus: Pilot study. Rev Arg Cs Comp. [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.3, pp.82-91. Epub Aug 25, 2020. ISSN 1852-4206.
Many studies have documented that patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) are susceptible to structural, metabolic and functional complications involving the central nervous system. To compare the efficiency of attentional networks in T1DM and healthy adults, 5 patients with T1DM and 5 healthy people answered the Attentional Network Test. We analyzed the efficiency of attentional networks: alerting, orienting and executive control in both groups, and the correlation between the efficiency of these networks and blood glucose levels. Although no significant differences in the efficiency of networks between groups were observed, a relation between glycaemia and efficiency of the control network was observed, as well as the influence of the control network on the orientation network.
Keywords : type 1 diabetes mellitus; attentional networks; glycaemia; cognition.
