Abstract

AGUSTINA, Barman,. Time poverty in the scientific and technological system of Santa Fe, Argentina. SaberEs [online]. 2023, vol.15, n.2, pp.81-100. ISSN 1852-4418.

Abstract. In the present paper, time poverty of researchers belonging to the scientific and technological system of the Province of Santa Fe is calculated through the LIMTIP methodology, which measures deficits and surpluses of time, establishing a minimum threshold for unpaid work time and personal care. The Survey of Uses of Time and Gender Gaps in the Scientific and Technological System of Santa Fe of 2019 is used as a database. Also, the gender gaps in the use of time are analyzed, including key variables such as the gender and type of household to which the researchers belong. Among the results obtained, it was found that women's participation in unpaid work is 59.6%, while for men it is 45.9%. By calculating time poverty, it was observed that 20.8% of the researchers are time poor. Of the total of women, 21.8% are time poor; while that percentage is 19.6% for men. It was also observed that 37.9% of people belonging to a single-parent household are time poor, of which 54.2% are women.
