Abstract

AMICOLA, José. Autoficción, una polémica literaria vista desde los márgenes (Borges, Gombrowicz, Copi, Aira). Olivar [online]. 2008, vol.9, n.12, pp.191-207. ISSN 1852-4478.

The present pages trace back the origin of the term 'autofiction', showing how this neologism, being offered as a way to articulate a new kind of reflexivity, is central to the operation followed by texts that propose a strange amalgam between the autobiographical and the novel. Two other issues are also at stake here: the sudden success enjoyed by the term 'autofiction'; and the role played by the literature made in Argentina, or related to this country, for the diffusión of that word. The debate will be reopened when considering novels written by two of Borges' antagonists: Gombrowicz and Copi. The uses of their proper names for the characters of their novels should shed light on the entire question of the autofiction of the postmodern times.

Keywords : Autofiction; Autobiography; Autobiographic novel; Proper name; Postmodernism.
