Abstract
VECCHIOLI, Virginia. Elias and the Holocaust. On the challenges of producing a sociological distanced knowledge from victims and perpetrators in Argentina. Rev. Mus. Antropol. [online]. 2015, vol.8, n.2, pp.193-200. ISSN 1852-060X.
In this paper, I will analyze the way in which Elias´s works, especially his book The Germans, constitute a crucial contribution to understand contemporary processes of political violence in Argentina, a subject matter approached from the academic local studies on memory by strongly prescriptive perspectives centrally engaged on the institutionalization of an emblematic memory about dictatorship. I´m interested in emphasizing the type of empirical questions that The Germans opens and the way in which a substantive appropriation - and not merely declarative - of Elias' work would assume new intellectual challenges for the analysis of the Argentine case, especially in relation to the possibility to open and create new research issues and the expansion of temporal and spatial borders. I'm interested also on analyzing the dilemmas his work raises, as well as an academic and as a Holocaust's victim, in terms of the construction of a sociologically comprehensive point of view.
