Abstract

ANIDO, C.  and  FAGGI, A.. Carrasco Wetland and Costanera Sur reserve: management assessment of two areas of ecological significance. Multequina [online]. 2006, vol.15, n.2, pp.55-68. ISSN 1852-7329.

The management of two areas of ecological significance submitted to urban expansion pressures in Montevideo and Buenos Aires cities have been assessed using methodologies developed by WCPA and WWF. The analysis of interviews to a group of experts allows concluding that the Natural Reserve Costanera Sur in Buenos Aires shows a moderately satisfactory management, while Carrasco Wetland is unsatisfactory. The redistribution of aspects/ambits along axis defined as intern, extern and mixed, permits to calculate the global efficiency of different acting features, which have to be encouraged as feedback in the melioration plan.

Keywords : Management; Urban sustainability; Natural areas.
