Abstract

MORENO, Marta V.; VILLAVICENCIO, Héctor J.; ACOSTA, Juan C.  and  VELAZQUEZ, Roberto A.. Structure of the bird assembly of a temporary lake of wetland Desaguadero del Bermejo, Ramsar site, San Juan, Argentina. Multequina [online]. 2020, vol.29, n.1, pp.61-72. ISSN 1852-7329.

Birds are one of the most diverse and functionally relevant fauna groups in wetland ecosystems. The Ramsar site “Lagunas de Guanacache, Desaguadero and del Bebedero” is an important wetland in the Cuyo region, inserted in the arid diagonal of Argentina. The objective of the work was to characterize the group of birds of a temporary lagoon environment: Laguna de Guanacache, Desaguadero and del Bebedero according to their taxonomic and functional diversity (trophic guilds), specific abundance, residence status and state of conservation. The samplings were recorded in the reproductive season of the ensemble (January-April 2008), by means of visual records through fixed observation points. Forty five species were registered, among which only Phoenicopterus chilensis is categorized as vulnerable. Low diversity, low equity, low trophic guild richness, and logarithmic-like diversity-dominance pattern are consistent with early successional stages of the system.
