Abstract

ARCINIEGAS BENITEZ, Omar D et al. Tumor de células gigantes espinal en niños: Reporte de dos casos. Rev. Asoc. Argent. Ortop. Traumatol. [online]. 2018, vol.83, n.3, pp.197-204. ISSN 1852-7434.

Spinal giant-cell tumor is a benign neoplasm with locally aggressive behavior, and rare in the pediatric population. Pain associated with neurological manifestations is the typical presentation in children. Tumor wide resection and decompression of neural elements together with instrumented spinal fusion allow to obtain a stable column, preserve or restore neural function and avoid tumor recurrence. We present two patients with spinal giant-cell tumor in the immature skeleton who underwent resection and stabilization by instrumented spinal fusion, without recurrence in the long-term postoperative period. Reporting of these cases is extremely valuable due to the clinical presentation, age of patients, and long-term postoperative results in the immature skeleton.

Keywords : Giant-cell tumor; Spinal; Immature skeleton.
