Abstract

CONTE, Diego. Marineros, huérfanos y desobedientes: Instituciones y prácticas punitivas en menores, ciudad de Buenos Aires (1870-1919). Rev. hist. derecho [online]. 2010, n.40. ISSN 1853-1784.

In the late nineteenth century, the State was showing a remarkable deficit of correctional facilities for the minority, emptinesss largely filled by ships, workshops and schools of the National Navy As a continuation of a colonial tradition, the Post of Defense Counsel and the Orphanage, ruled by the Charitable Society of Buenos Aires, used the navy force as a punishment environment for joung orphans and disobedients. In the present work we intend to approach punitive practices in childhood, inside state and private institutions, between 1870 and 1919. With that objective, we will be based on the meaning acquired by legal concepts as custody and deposit in the institutional framework , which served for the goverment of the minority in the precoded law (combining and overlaying protection, education and punishment).

Keywords : Custody; Deposit; Punishable practices; Minors; Corretional institutional.
