Abstract

NAVARRO NICOLETTI, Felipe  and  NICOLETTI, María Andrea. “Habla Jaime”: una pastoral para la comunicación y la defensa de los derechos humanos en Neuquén (1980-1990). Soc. relig. [online]. 2023, vol.33, n.61, pp.4-4. ISSN 0326-9795.

In the following work we will analized the communicational project of the bishop of Neuquén, Jaime de Nevares (1961-1991), during the period from 1980 to 1990, through the magazine "Comunidad". In this magazine the bishop expressed his opinion on Human Rights at regional and national level. We will observe how through the creation of a pastoral for communication, de Nevares consolidated a social link with the inhabitants of Neuquén, beyond his belonging to the Catholic Church. We will particularly analyze the magazine and within it, the sub-editorial: "Habla Jaime", through which the bishop intervened as a defender of Human Rights. In this sub editorial de Nevares, in the first person, emphasized his position and action in the defense of Human Rights during the military dictatorship (1976-1983), but at the same time the direct reference to his name, "Don Jaime", refers to the popular denomination and personal closeness to his community. The edited and unpublished documentary material on the bishop and his communicational project will be investigated from the perspective of historical hermeneutics and communication theory, analyzing the documentary sources in their particular context, in order to observe the media positioning of this sector of the Catholic Church represented by Bishop de Nevares.
