Abstract

FIORUCCI, Flavia. «País afeminado, proletariado feminista». Mujeres inmorales e incapaces: la feminización del magisterio en disputa (1900-1920). Hist. educ. anu. [online]. 2016, vol.17, n.2. ISSN 2313-9277.

This article studies the reactions of three intellectuals (Leopoldo Lugones, Manuel Gálvez, Víctor Mercante) in relation to the process of feminization of the teacher profession in Argentina. This feminization took place during the last decades of the nineteenth and the first decades of the twentieth century. The article analyses the diverse arguments made by these intellectuals against a context in which most of the teachingpositions began to be occupied by women. The essay argües that the process of feminization was more resisted than what is commonly assumed by the bibliography.

Keywords : Women; teachers; feminization, intellectuals, normal schools.
