Abstract

MARTINEZ, Carlos Dámaso. Adolfo Bioy Casares, conspiracies and heterotopias in the renewal of fantastic. CELEHIS [online]. 2015, n.29, pp.72-100. ISSN 2313-9463.

My presentation will focus on the analysis of space in the narrative of Bioy Casares. I consider that from his early novels (La invención de Morel and Plan de evasión), islands configure fantastic spaces which can be easily considered "heterotopic" in Foucaultian terms. The writer also recreates the gothic castle as psychiatric clinics, barracks, old mansions, farms, in an original way of renewing the genre. Both space and time as conspiracy plots are very significant in terms of the relationship with socio historical context and form a vision of the world through that semiotic mediation that is the fantasy genre.

Keywords : space; conspiracy; island.
