Abstract

CALABRESE, Elisa. New and oíd realism. CELEHIS [online]. 2015, n.29, pp.181-198. ISSN 2313-9463.

The aim of this work is to refect on the new forms of realism, in the context of current discussions on the subject and considering the traditional definitions to be insufficient. It starts considering the publication of "El imperio realista", third volume of Historia crítica de la literature argentina (2002) directed by Noé Jitrik, and the observations that María Teresa Gramuglio made on the subject. Some critical opinions on the new forms of realism are reviewed and the existence of a tradition of modern alegoric narration in argentine literature is formuled as an hypothesis. To this purpose, with the support of theories from Borges, the concept of alegory is specifed. The novel Diario de la guerra del cerdo (1969) is used as an example to show how this text from Adolfo Bioy Casares explores barbarity as politically associated to peronism. Afterwards, the novel El oficinista (2003) from Guillermo Saccomanno, is analyzed. This autor is considerd as realistic, since the link between literature and its hystoric time is not limited to the author's imaginery, but to his ideological convictions as well.

Keywords : Realism; allegory; politics; barbarity.
