Abstract

SCHNIRMAJER, Ariela Érica. Rubén Darío entre el canon y el corpus. CELEHIS [online]. 2017, n.33, pp.1-10. ISSN 2313-9463.

Two of the most highlighted characters of our canon are Jose Martí and Ruben Darío. However, this centrality is not exempt from quarreling. "The canon is constituted in a point of fight", says Susana Zanetti (1998:103), where the order that legitimate the critique is one  of the arena in which this confrontation is hatched (88). Both, characters and plays, have been subject of various appropriations; in many cases there have been comparisons between them. In the operations respect to the canon, the visibility of one part of the corpus plays a central role. In this message we analyze a reading of a recent critique of Azul.., play which has had a historic-literary central meaning, as the criticism dated in this publishing in 1888 the birth of modernism. We concentrate in Marti and Dario ante America y Europa, Textos y contextos contrarios, by José Ballón Aguirre (UNAM 2012), where we discuss his idea of American cultural autonomy, his assumption of "contexto" (1970)-cathegory coming from the critic Ángel Rama- and we problematize his view of the Spanish American Modernism. We check the validity of the comparative/ contrastive method between Marti and Dario in the contemporary criticism.

Keywords : Rubén Darío - American cultural autonomy - Azul -  Spanish American Modernism - context.
