Abstract

In Mendoza, next year's centennial was marked by the success of the model wine materialized mainly in expanding the area cultivated with vineyards, the increase in the number and capacity of the holds, and the resulting increase in wine production. This product was designed to meet domestic demand expanding immigrant population consisted primarily located in major urban centers of our country. We are interested in this article highlight the features of San Rafael, in the oasis south of Mendoza, the department further from the core area of diffusion of modern winemaking. For this trade were fundamental lands grants water rights that allowed the installation of agricultural settlements and the extension of cultivated area, the arrival of the railroad and the expansion of its connections, installing banks access to credit; and the arrival of immigrants to this space.
