Abstract

MARTINEZ JURCZYSZYN, Carina. Historia de la Colonia Alvear (1901-1914). Rev. hist. am. argent. [online]. 2011, vol.46, n.2, pp.00-00. ISSN 2314-1549 .

Alvear colony, located in the Southeast of the Province of Mendoza was founded in 1901 by the successors of Diego de Alvear. His creation can not be considered an isolated event but part of the process of advance of the agricultural and farming to the south of the country and, in particular, in the occupation of southern Mendoza oasis that occurred between the late nineteenth and first decade of the twentieth century. It was a venture capital generated from outsiders with little provincial government intervention. Its constitution was determined by the rail projects that were conceived in the country in the second half of the nineteenth century and sought to unite the Atlantic coast to Chile.

Keywords : General Alvear; Mendoza; Colonia; Foreign investment.
