Abstract

RUSSO, Sebastián. Proyectos de integración argentinos para con Brasil. Cambios y continuidades entre la Declaración de Foz de Iguazú (1985) y el Tratado de Asunción (1991). Relac. int. [online]. 2023, vol.32, n.65, pp.42-54. ISSN 2314-2766.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.24215/23142766e171.

In this paper we will study the origins of the integration process between Argentina and Brazil in order to analyze the change and continuity variables that have structured it from the Declaration of Foz de Iguazú (1985) to the signing of the Treaty of Asunción (1991). We will argue that, although the association project with Brazil has remained constant during Argentina’s current democratic period, it underwent changes in meaning, strategies and objectives during the transition between UCR Raúl Alfonsín’s administration (1983-1989) and Peronist Carlos Menem’s first term (1989-1995), which would be central to their development.

Keywords : Alfonsín; integration; regionalism; Brazil; Ménem.
