Abstract

OLIVARES, Nicolás Emanuel. LA PLATA'S NATIONALISTLIBERALISM. ANINVENTED TRADITION? ROMANTIC RETORIC AT THE SERVICE OF THE SUNSET OF THE SOCIAL REPUBLICANISM. Rev. Fac. [online]. 2018, vol.9, n.2, pp.1-12. ISSN 1850-9371.

In this research work, we will use certain conceptual, methodological and heuristic tools of the history of political languages in order to defend three interconnected hypotheses. First, we will affirm that social republicanism constitutes a relevant river plate nineteenth-century political tradition. In the second place, we will offer arguments in defense of that river plate nineteenth-century nationalist liberalism constitutes a genuine case of “invented tradition'! Finally, in the third place, we will try certain arguments in defense of the potential of those tools to adequately reconstruct the contexts of enunciation and justifi-cation of these two political traditions.

Keywords : Conceptual history - Social republicanism - Nationalist liberalism - Invented traditions..
