Abstract

FUGARDO, Marcela P.. The Promenade los Tres Ombúes in San Isidro: the urban management of the barranca landscape. An. Inst. Arte Am. Investig. Estét. Mario J. Buschiazzo [online]. 2022, vol.52, n.1, pp.1-17. ISSN 2362-2024.

The iconic site named "Paseo de los Tres Ombúes" was the first place of public recreation in San Isidro, with wide views toward the River Plate. It worked as a summertime meeting point and as a promenade for the use and delight of neighbours and visitors. Since 1894-1895, the local government built several facilities using the "picturesque" style, related to the Middle Age and the "grotesque". It became then a touristic site. After years, the place suffered formal changes in the construction, losing the original aesthetics, but retaining both the ombúes trees that gave it the name and the quality of panoramic viewpoint.

Keywords : promenade; barranca; ombúes; San Isidro; San Isidro; colonial; XXth and XXst Century.
