The beginning of the Jesuit Province of Paraguay has been studied by many historians, some of whom have contributed several valuable documents. Are presented here are two unpublished documents addressed to the Superior General in Rome: the first of these is the Memorial about the discussed in the First Provincial Congregation that started on March 12th, 1608 in Santiago, Chile and which was signed by the Provincial Diego de Torres and three Consultants, Juan Romero, Juan de Viana and Gaspar de Monroy. The second is the first annual letter of the Jesuit Province of Paraguay, dated March 22, 1608, in Santiago, Chile.

Both documentary sources allow us to know the vicissitudes of the initial times and the decisions that defined the temporal and spiritual characteristics of the new Jesuit Province.
