CANDIANI, José Nicolás. DIGITAL REPOSITORY OF PRIMARY GEOLOGICAL DATA. Ser. correl. geol. [online]. 2017, vol.33, n.2, pp.1-10. ISSN 1666-9479.
This paper explains and describes the development of sofitware designed for analyzing and gathering primary data in real time and location throughout the use of mobile devices. Firstly, it makes use of nowadays extended avai-lability of georeferencing systems in mobile devices for collecting information. Secondly, the sofitware generates geostructured information that allows the visualization, analysis, integration, publication and storage of the collected data. Thirdly, this sofitware intends to be a key piece of a Digital Primary Data Repository (DPDR), an on-line database designed for integrated and multidisciplinary analysis of geological data, for public and private institutions. The direct consequence of Digital Primary Data Repository (DPDR) is a substantial change in the way primary data is gathered on location by developing a specifically designed digital tool along with a new Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) model. This new methodology aims to enable geologists and researchers at Servicio Geológico Minero Argentino (SEGE-MAR) to easily capture and load detailed and organized georeferenced primary data in real time to institutional databases. This project has three phases. First, the development of an application for mobile de vices under Android OS that makes use of their magnetic compass, GPS, camera and accele rometer for feeding the data base (DBs) with georeferenced information. Second, the development of a multiplatform application for computers (Windows OS, Linux OS and Mac OS) that allows visualizing, downloading, editing, performing complex searches, and exporting the primary geological data to multiple formats enhancing the interoperability, dissemination and collaborative exchange. Third, the massive storage of information on a server via fitP, as well as the possibility of synchronizing updated databases both with mobile and computer applications.
