Resumen

MUZI, Eugenia et al. Caracterización socioproductiva de los productores hortícolas en el partido de Junín (Buenos Aires). RIA. Rev. investig. agropecu. [online]. 2020, vol.46, n.2, pp.218-225. ISSN 1669-2314.

The district of Junín is located in the northwest of Buenos Aires Province, covers 226337 hectares and has 90305 inhabitants. Junín city was historically configured as the main administrative, tourist, educational, industrial, health and commercial center of the region. Due to the aptitude of the soils, it is located in the core of agricultural production zone. Since 1990, new socio-productive profiles have emerged in a large number of intermediate agro-cities, not only in the extensive field sector, but also in peri-urban areas. Horticultural producers are some of the most characteristic, but their features and potential are still unknown. The aim of this work is to carry out a socio-productive characterization of horticultural producers in Junín. In order to do this, a methodological device was elaborated based on the realization of a survey with social and productive variables. The methodology consists in a total scan of horticultural producers in Junín. This totality is reached from the creation of a list of producers made with different institutions. In order to confirm the total cover of producers, to corroborate the scan, a photointerpretation of google earth was used. The main results show that 60% of the producers are argentine, generally from Junín; and 40% are bolivian, mainly from the south. Producers born in Junín are those who, in continuity with the productive activity of the parents, had access to land ownership, while the immigrant producers are tenants. However, Bolivian producers developed productive and innovative strategies of the production of vegetables under cover. Another strategy developed by these producers corresponds to the exclusive family organization of social-productive work. 56% of all producers make direct sales in the horticultural farm, 28% sell in fairs and 76% in local greengrocers. However, the main problem perceived corresponds to low market prices and competition. In this sense, it is considered that horticultural sector of Junín has potential for the development of public policies linked to the commercialization and local supply of fresh horticultural products.
