Resumen

SANTISTEBAN FERNANDEZ, Antoni  y  JARA, Miguel Angel. Lessons from the pandemic and the responsibility of social science teachers. Rev. Esc. Hist. [online]. 2020, vol.19, n.2, pp.00-00. ISSN 1669-9041.

In this paper we reflect on the purposes of teaching social sciences in a context of exceptionality caused by the global pandemic. On the one hand, we intend to analyze what lessons the health crisis has left us to help us build a better future. On the other hand, we wonder what the role of history and social science teachers should be in this context, what is their responsibility as a teacher, what should they teach and why. In this sense, we propose a decalogue that helps us to specify the challenges, the possibilities and the commitments, in a time of crisis, but also of hope in education, to form a critical and democratic citizenship, where the teaching of social sciences be an instrument of social change. It is not a question of a look at the most current present, but rather starting from the inevitable relationships between the past, the present and the future, as a proposal that aims to develop historical consciousness and critical consciousness.

Palabras clave : Pandemic; Teachers; Present; Future.
