RIOS-FLORES, Jesús Armando; CASTILLO-ARCE, Miriam Liliana y ALONSO BAJO, Rosario. Effects Of Technological Absorption Capacities In Economic Growth. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2017, vol.12, n.34, pp.197-222. ISSN 1850-0013.
This paper presents an assessment from a macroeconomic perspective on the effect of technology capacities in a group of countries, adjusted by the absorptive capacity in their gross domestic product per worker in a dashboard model. A non-linear function was used to estimate the model because technology effects are segregated by the stage of development of each country. Firstly, we found out that there are positive but decreasing effects, both in research and development expenditure as well as in their technological capacity. Secondly, by dividing the countries according to their income levels, we discovered that high-income countries show positive effects stemming from technology, with even higher effects when the technology indicators are adjusted by absorptive capacity.
