Resumen

QUIROS, Julieta. Working together. Native modes of political economy, from inland villages of Córdoba, (Argentina). Cuad. antropol. soc. [online]. 2020, n.51, pp.113-133. ISSN 1850-275X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.34096/cas.i51.7960.

What can the political creativity of inland villages tell us about the possibilities of politics? What can the economic creativity of inland residents tell us about the nature and possibilities of economy? Neighborhood committees in inland Córdoba (Argentina) work. They unfold incessant flows of collective energy for the (re)production of everyday existence. While doing so, we argue, they put into practice a native model of political economy that assigns different rights and responsibilities to the people and the municipality; to society and the local state. Through an ethnographic approach, this article explores this political economy in its daily life: how processes of (co)production of value enable the social creation of common goods and, therefore, of “the common” as an experience and modality of relationship between people, and between people and things. As in other places, in these towns of Argentina, economic sovereignty and political autonomy are reciprocally produced and translated, as if they were two sides of the same coin.

Palabras clave : Community economies; Collective politics; State; Inland villages; Argentina.
