Resumen
HEIDER, Guillermo. Un aporte a la discusión sobre las ortocuarcitas del grupo Sierras Bayas: ¿el sur de Córdoba como una frontera?. Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2016, vol.17, n.3, pp.303-313. ISSN 1850-373X.
This paper provides new information on the presence in the south of Cordoba of orthoquartzite from the group Sierras Bayas of Tandilia range system (OGSB). This is the most abundant rock in many archaeological record of the Pampas of Buenos Aires, and was also recovered in the Salado river (Buenos Aires), southern Dry Pampas and in the deltas of the Colorado and Paraná rivers, about others. The identification of orthoquartzite in the northern Dry Pampas represents, so far, the largest known distance from the source. This broad range of action could be a response, among other things, to the meager amount of good quality raw material for height, as it was discussed in previous works. Distributional analyses allowed the recognition of a particular distribution of the rock in the landscape, with a decline and subsequent disappearance in a southeastnorthwest direction. From the postulation that OGSB was a prominent item of the material culture for Pampean hunter-gatherers, issues related to ethnic identities and territorial boundaries or frontiers are addressed. The results of petrographic analyses, which confirmed the rock source, are also presented here, as well as some guidelines of studies on lithic resource management.
