Resumen

ORIA, Jimena. Los conjuntos líticos de Laguna Arturo, norte de Tierra del Fuego. Procesos de formación del registro y uso del espacio. Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.1, pp.23-40. ISSN 1850-373X.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.37176/iea.24.1.2023.775.

This paper presents the lithic record known to date from Laguna Arturo and discusses its spatial distribution and the integral use of the shallow lake space. A vast majority of the artifacts from the site are surface finds; five sites, two artifact concentrations, and several isolated finds have been identified. There is noticeable variability in spatial distribution, composition, and preservation. The most sensitive variables for assessing the degree of destruction and loss in the assemblages were found by analyzing the lithic record, which established parameters for the exposure times of the sites in relation to their moment of interception. In addition, it was possible to visualize a pattern in the use of the shallow lake, with evidence of nodule acquisition and knapping on the south coast and other activities that involved the concentration of formatized artifacts and points on the north coast. Analysis of the Laguna Arturo surface lithic assemblages was challenging in terms of integrity. Even so, taking into account such variables as composition, spatial distribution, reassembly and artifact size, this record has proven to be a good opportunity to better understand use of this space.
